Picture perfect

Digital printing has long been a way of introducing individual imagery to interiors and with production costs coming down it’s easy to introduce unique designs into your home.

Wallpaper, shower screens, kitchen backsplashes all become a canvas for your creativity helping to stamp your own personality and style.  Images from your phone or computer can be printed onto almost any surface.

Caroline Shortt from Barc Architects is a big fan of the process.  Her halo lit panel of trees transforms the humble toilet into a natural haven.  It feels a bit like the wardrobe in Narnia, where you might end up in an enchanted forest.  The vaulted room is clad in cedar and an led strip lights the paper and emphasises the curve of the vault drawing the eye to the back of the space.

AnniePhilips’ innovative and uplifting images work well in kitchens and shower rooms.  Her designs are printed onto a film and laminated between panels of toughened glass.

The composition can be adapted to fit the available space and the colours matched with the rest of your decoration giving you total control.  It’s a simple and effective way to create something different and individual.

Stripes

From a Telegraph Property tweet Marianne Shillingford, paint brand Dulux's creative director and the design director of Dulux Design Service, demonstrates  in this video  how to paint a room with horizontal stripes, using paints from Dulux’s autumn 2013 palette, Urban Folk.

My things

We like the photographic visuals created by artist Hong Hao, there are filled with objects from his life and represent over 20 years of accumulation. The final result is graphically powerfull, reflecting a person through everyday ordinary objets.

Wall Magic

Always a fan of a cheeky wall finish we love the interior of The Urban Wood in Bristol.  Tucked away off the main drag its got a New York bar feel to it mixed with British humour and quirky idiosyncrasy.  A relaxed back room is viewed through a beautifully proportioned georgian sash window.  I know, most people would have knocked it through to create access but by retaining the window they've maintained the intimate spaces and created a delightful view through.

Friendly staff and great food and drinks make this a must.

Wall magic

Our neighbours have a rather fine and slightly larger than life painting
of Jodie Foster as Iris "Easy" Steensma in the cult classic Taxi Driver on their door.

As you can see we're somewhat blighted by tagging but it all adds to the gritty east end charm.  We'll enjoy it while we can because, as you know, someday a real rain will come to wash all this scum off the streets.

Round the corner in Club Row is this by Pablo Delgado which brings a little joy and humour to the streets.

Wall magic. Republic of Fritz Hansen

We like these wall treatments in the Fritz Hansen and Skandium combined showroom in Margaret Street, London.  The map is made up of stamps and the chair silhouettes are in vinyl applied to glass.

A great showcase of Scandinavian design the "Republic of Fritz Hansen" showroom is set over two floors and offers products and furniture for both the domestic and commercial markets.

Wall Magic. Tracy Kendall

We love these wallpapers from Tracy Kendall Wallpaper. Her graphic images are really fun and she's developing designs that treat paper more like a textile, weaving it or creating 3-D effects by manipulating the paper. A great way of introducing character and individuality into your home or business.

Wall Magic. Peg board

Peg board makes a welcome return to our design repertoire in this project in Calvert Avenue. Its a low budget product but gives a great textural effect. We've used it here to create a sliding panel over a home office.

It comes with a range of shop fitting bits so you can hang and display what you like on it or just admire its striped back simplicity. There's more pictures on our facebook page.

Here's some great ideas to add some fun to your home.

We spotted them on the freshhome blog where you can see some more examples to inspire you.

We've used vinyls for both residential and commercial projects. They're simple, reasonably cheap and you can create your own designs.

Product of the Month-Pole

Pole is a beautifully simple glazed panel system. Floor to ceiling poles support glazed panels with the option to mount, shelves, storage, screens, in fact pretty much anything on the back. Add graphics, coloured vinyls, acoustic panels or whiteboards. Its a flexible and functional system.

Its just been nominated in the Mixology interiors awards and we're specifying it for office refurbishments for ACCA. The system includes hinged and sliding doors and by utilising floor to ceiling pressure fit poles it can be erected really quickly and moved about when required.

Manufactured by Luconi its available through ei2. Contact Sarah Jane for more details.

Keep it in proportion. Old Nichol Street

We like to see old and new mixing together and the clash of old and new is in full flow round the corner from our office. This applied frame technique matches the proportions of its old neighbour whilst sneaking in an extra floor.

Wall Magic

Ahhhhhh the humble cassette tape. Remember the days of putting together compilations and then slipping it into your ghetto blaster- Sharp tape to tape of course. We're showing our age here! I've still got a box of C90s in the cupboard somewhere. We love this window. Simple and cool.

3d Brand

Project your brand.

First Signs and Labels have provided us with a giant vinyl for our showroom door. Its a great way to project our brand and creates an immediate feature when you enter the office. On the back is a digitally printed wallpaper. We used the same technique to create feature walls for Shine on the Green with a graphic image developed from photos of the trees on neighbouring Newington Green.

With the choice of image limitless you can go to town and create something unique to your business that will help you stand out from the crowd
